Zombie Life
posted on: Sunday, February 10, 2013
It's been a year since I've had trouble sleeping, but the zombie life has returned yet again. It comes and goes for unknown reasons, and I find myself feeling uncomfortably numb. I used to not sleep much at all - a few hours was enough. Then I started sleeping a full eight hours, but I would wake up once or twice in the middle of the night. I also don't have dreams often, usually nightmares. This past week, I've been waking up in the middle of the night and feeling completely exhausted when I actually do wake up.
I have tried herbal tea blends for better sleep, and for a while now, I've been sleeping with crystals under my pillow. My friend H gave me a dreamcatcher for Christmas, and I've been having better dreams too. However, it's been an emotionally rough week for me, and I also damaged the front of my car. I just hope this lack of sleep doesn't continue for much longer because I can feel myself weakening under the stress. H gave me a tip of disconnecting from the computer (and probably smartphone) an hour before bed. I'll give it a try tonight.
Do you have trouble sleeping, and how do you remedy it?

perhaps a soothing cup of non-caffeinated tea before bed, in addition to the no-electronics an hour before...I hope you sleep better this week!
ReplyDeleteDay 1, woke up at 4am. I will attempt another try though ;) also, I had a beautiful dream last night. I was moving into a new home, and there was a large rock in the form of a mountain. You were holding a ladle full of water, and you carefully poured it over the mountain as if christening it. I really think your dreamcatcher is helping. x
Deletewhat helps me:
ReplyDelete1. a small cup of really good hot chocolate--a great recipe: http://www.cestlavegan.com/2011/03/italian-hot-chocolate/ (vegan too!)
2. stretching/really easy yoga poses
3. relaxation breathing exercises (kind of goes hand-in-hand with #2)
4. Something that was recommended to me: listen to the END of a mellow/trance-like song.
Pleasant slumbers friend!
Maribel :)
I've never heard of drinking hot chocolate before bed! It sounds delicious, and I will definitely try it. I do yoga once or twice a week, but I'll incorporate a few moves into my bedtime routine. And I will try #4 too. Thank you for the tips love!
